What to do with your kindergartener

Pre-Reading
If your child is however learning letter sounds …

- Create a unproblematic game with letters whose sounds your child needs to piece of work on (here's a free resource). Include but a few letters at a time, and start with the easier sounds: /b/, /d/, /f/, /j/, /k/, /m/, /n/, /p/, /due south/, /t/, /v/, and /z/. Move on to harder sounds: /c/, /g/, /h/, /q/, /50/, /r/, /w/, /10/, and /y/. Conclude with the curt vowel sounds.

Practice reading CVC words.

If your kid is fluent with CVC words, it's time to move on to the side by side step.
A digraph is two letters that make i audio (sh, ch, th, wh, kn, wr). A blend is two letters that appear together but make their ain sounds (fl, st, etc.).

- Addition with 2 color counters (you don't need 2-color counters; merely use ii types of manipulatives – they can be coins, caps, etc.).
